The LOST MINE OF PHANDELVER 5e is the fifth edition of a popular dungeon-crawl board game released in 1998. The LOST MINE OF PHANDELVER 5e is a cooperative adventure game with modifications and expansions. During this period, many different editions of the game were released by Fantasy Flight Games. One of the major changes in this edition is that there are only three heroes instead of four who collectively explore dungeons searching for treasures and riches hidden within them.
Although these heroes start as friends, they might abandon their companions if they don’t earn their trust or decide to get more treasure from their encounters with enemies. The other major change with this edition is that some enemies are now on a grid and added turn sequence to create more suspense and tension.
This edition plays approximately 45 minutes to an hour like the previous editions. The main quest involves a team of heroes entering the depths of a dungeon searching for the fabled Lost Mines of Phandelver, but they discover that not all is what it seems in this realm of evil forces. The goblins have already made their way into the mines and have started to dig out spaces so that they can expand their territory. The heroes must step in and stop them from expanding, but the forces of evil are too strong to win the day. The heroes have to navigate the mines without losing their way or getting stuck inhospitable places.
The adventurers must carefully search for their objectives within the dense darkness of the mines. With each turn, new rooms and corridors open up for exploration, as well as new dangers that can be avoided by carefully scouting each area. The treasures will be very important in this game due to their ability to assist the player in passing a level that they were stuck on before they could finally get all of their treasures found.
